I'm an avid History Channel watcher, mag reader, and life time member - and happily. But, repeatedly I've asked NOT to be mailed the "free" preview DVDs, knife sets, etc... and repeatedly I get them in the mail. If I don't get them back in time, I am forced to have to pay for them. I live in a rural area and it is time consuming. Now I received a DVD "free" preview and to send it back I now have to PAY for postage ($2.23) for something I never wanted nor ordered!!! Very surprised at the Club for such treatment of club members... If I throw it out, I get billed, if I keep it I get billed, if I mail it back I have to pay - for something I never wanted!!! Come on folks, what gives?

I am also a lifetime member and also do not want to receive these items. I recently had a go around with the club when I was repeatedly billed for something that I had returned the day after I received it. I think that the club should request, and receive, affirmative permission before sending these items.

It's interesting to hear that the two of you are having problems like this.  I have been seriously considering upgrading my membership to life status. If this involves problems, however, I may think twice about this.  Is any other life member having this problem?

Sorry to hear your having problems. The club never obligates you to pay for any preview item they send you. The labels are supposed to be computer generated and fully paid. if they arent all you have to do is call the club and they would be more than happy to send you a fully paid postage label. Even if its past the due date. Please also keep in mind that they run on an automatic 28 day billing cycle. So they may have stopped the items it just takes 28 full business days for it to go through completely be stopped. Some items are selected and start processing 1-2 months before they show up in the account. so there isnt always a way for the club to know if something else is set to be sent. and as ive heard, once the item is picked to go out there is no way to stop it. I'm sure they don't mean any inconvenience i would just give them a call. GOOD LUCK!!!

Sorry to hear youre having problems. Have you tried calling member services? I'm sure they arent purposefully trying to create an inconvenience. I would definitly call them and it does state right in the hand book you can stop everything but the magazine. keep in mind tho their invoicing system is computer generated and it goes out every 28 days. someone could post as a return and the invoice isnt schedueled for 2 days after it still goes out. I've asked thats how i Know... GOOD LUCK

I, too, resent receiving materials that I have not ordered then getting billed for them. Even after returning the items I see that I have an outstanding bill on my account. I probably will not renew, no, I will not renew if this continues.

The problem with billing is like what has been stated previously. Once you send it back it might take over a month for the charge to clear.

I like the free preview, I even purchased dvd's from this service. I do have a problem with having to pay for the returns if you decline to buy like dlennon said. I don't want to stop the "free" preview feature, I just want it to be free like everyone else...

As said above, if you're having problems with the club, just call. Also u can email them and get a response fairly quickly. I emailed them yesterday to see what my next DVD will be and I got a response in about 20 minutes! I know I was able to slow down the DVDs so they don't come so often. I was also told that you can have postage paid labels automatically sent with the DVDs! There are plenty of options. The handbook they sent in the welcome kit also says that you can stop the preview series at any time.
